No permits are issued by fax.

You must go to the office to pick up your permits which are issued promptly, call ahead with information or leave a message.

TRUCK OVER DIMENSIONAL PERMIT LIMITATIONS

Weight: Single - 31,000 Lbs per axle; Tandem - 31,000 Lbs per axle; Tridum - 31,000 Lbs per axle; Quad - 31,000 Lbs per axle. Gross weight: The maximum weight allowed will be considered on a case by case basis. The maximum gross weight allowed depends on where the vehicle will be traveling. No one axle can exceed 31,000 Lbs.

Length: The maximum length is determined by the routes traveled. Extreme lengths will require night travel.

Width: The maximum width is determined by the routes traveled. Vehicles will be allowed to travel if the street can handle the width.

Height: The maximum height is determined by overhead clearance. Extreme height will require night travel.

TRUCK SIGNS & FLAGS

"Wide Load" signs are required on all over width loads. Sign dimensions are not stated in the law. No flags required.

ESCORT REQUIREMENTS

Rear overhang greater than 10' requires a front and rear Escort. Loads greater than 12' wide require a front and rear Escort. Loads greater than 13' 6" high require a front and rear Escort, front car with height pole. Loads 80' or longer require a front and rear Escort.

ESCORT VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

Type of vehicle is not stipulated in the law. A flashing light is to be mounted on top of the Escort vehicle.

TRAVEL TIME

Travel allowed 24 hours a day unless extremely over width or over height. Over- width vehicles and over height vehicles may be restricted to night travel between the hours of 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. No travel from 7:00-9:30 a.m. and 4:00-6:30 p.m. Movement will not be allowed during inclement weather. Travel is allowed on weekends. Travel is not restricted on holidays. The District Permit Office will be closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day & the day after and Christmas Day.
